SmartChoice Attends the 2018 Jillian Fund Gala
The Jillian Fund’s mission is one of remarkable compassion.
When families face unthinkable crises as their children are diagnosed with a critical illness, the foundation works to keep them at their child’s side by providing the financial support they need.
Each year, the organization holds their annual From Jillian With Love gala in support of their cause. And each year, SmartChoice grows even more proud and honored to help sponsor this event and back the Fund’s extraordinary work.
Named for Jillian Gorman, who succumbed to a hard-fought fight with blood cancer when she was just 16 years old, the Fund helps support families who experience financial burdens as they focus on their child’s needs. By assisting with essential costs like rent, transportation, and childcare, the Jillian Fund helps out families when the need to work is overshadowed the need to spend precious time together.
The 2018 gala was held once again at the grand Venetian hall in Garfield, New Jersey, and provided an emotional look into the organization’s work. Board members and partners spoke about the Fund’s laudable tasks and ongoing goals before Jillian Fund families described how the foundation aided them as they watched their children battle back. Throughout the course of the presentations, the Fund shone a deserved light on the invaluable social workers whose dedication to each family lets them become a sustaining presence in the midst of these challenges.
This deeper understanding of the Jillian Fund’s worthy mission prepared guests to further support and celebrate the foundation’s drive. To keep their energy up, they stayed well-fed through sprawling dinner and dessert spreads, and enjoyed with an open bar sponsored by none other than SmartChoice! As the night went on, attendees were encouraged towards raffles, tempting silent auction items, and the traditional charity casino that offered card sharks and roulette enthusiasts a fair trade as every chip purchased meant another step towards the next million dollars raised.
SmartChoice was thrilled to attend another Jillian Fund gala, which ultimately raised over $380,000. We are already looking forward to next year’s event and ensure our continued support of the Fund’s endless compassion.
