Community involvement
At SmartChoice, our work starts with people. We live and work in the same neighborhoods as our customers, and we believe businesses have a responsibility to strengthen our communities. That’s why our teams actively support local and national nonprofits across Tampa Bay, New York City, Springfield, Mo., and beyond.
Community support isn’t a side project—it’s embedded in our day-to-day, and through our #SmartChoiceCares initiative, we’ve designed roles that help coordinate sponsorships, volunteer initiatives, and board-related activities, ensuring our efforts are consistent and sustained throughout the year.
Gulf Coast JFCS helps the most vulnerable individuals throughout our community, from babies to seniors, find safety, comfort, and a path toward a fulfilling life. To help as many people as comprehensively as possible through complex life challenges, Gulf Coast JFCS programs span a broad human service spectrum. The outcome – lives uplifted!

New York Cares
New York City has always been the epicenter of the American Dream. It’s a place of hope and opportunity. A place millions have traveled to in search of a better life.
Unfortunately, the American Dream feels unattainable for many vulnerable New Yorkers, who are facing such obstacles as limited education, poor nutrition, low literacy, unemployment, and lack of basic needs. With 45% of New Yorkers living near or below the poverty line, the complexity and scale of problems can seem overwhelming. Many people want to step up and help their neighbors, but they feel that the issues are just too big. “There’s nothing I can do to have a real impact.”
