The Jillian Fund Gala 2016
On Wednesday, November 2nd, SmartChoice attended the 2016 Jillian Fund Annual Gala–From Jillian with Love. The event was held at the Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey, where guests enjoyed an elegant evening while supporting the Jillian Fund’s significant cause.
The Jillian Fund was started by the family of the late Jillian Gorman, who was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2009 at just 16, and battled her illness for four years before she ultimately passed away in 2013. As Jillian’s family witnessed her continued fighting spirit, they also witnessed the financial struggles parents can face when leaving their jobs to focus on their children’s health. The Jillian Fund is dedicated to helping families provide financial and emotional support for their loved ones in difficult times. Assistance from the Jillian Fund helps with rent, bills, and other payments that can be difficult to make without the time and stability needed for work.
Gala guests heard emotional words from Jillian’s family and doctors, Jillian Fund board members, and some of the parents and children the Jillian Fund has aided. An array of appetizing dinner and dessert courses invigorated guests for fun at the event’s on-site casino. By purchasing chips for games like blackjack, attendees were able to donate to the Jillian Fund as they mingled with other guests, sharpened their card skills and tried their luck.
