Richard Thomas, Director of Finance for Smart Choice Communications (SCC), is directly involved in driving business strategy, corporate finance, partnerships, and growth opportunities. He joined SCC in 2017 and is responsible for SCC’s global finance functions, including financial planning, controllership, tax, treasury, and investor relations. Prior to coming to work at SCC, Thomas worked for BRGuest Hospitality for over 14 years assisting in accounting, where he gained insight and business experience working with various agencies across the country. Thomas began his career in 2002 and now has more than 15 years of experience in accounting and finance.

Since joining SCC in 2017, Thomas was immediately involved with many key initiatives for his significant experience in financial reporting, information technology, accounting, finance and capital management, investor relations, and international operations. As Director of Finance, Thomas oversees all areas of finance and administration including: accounts payable and receivable, cash management, payroll, inventory, banking, job costing, and sales commission tracking. He provides strategic analyses for senior management to determine company profitability as well as preparing quarterly financial statements.

There are several things Thomas enjoys while working at SCC such as: problem solving, providing timely and relevant analyses, and working as a team to grow the company. His experience in financial management in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors help to improve performance and productivity. Thomas graduated in 1997 and he holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Mercy College.
